Home Clayton Bolger

Kieran on Clayton:

Apparently, you can check out any time you like, but you can never leave. Clayton Bolger, my friend, has tried so very hard to shun rock and roll and live the quiet family life, but we just can't let him go. If you see him in full flight, I think deep down he needs a weekly fix...

Clay is one of the rare breed that enjoys every facet of what he does. Meticulous in his preparation, organised when the rest of us could care less, and ready to step up when we need him the most. At any given time we have no idea if he's in the group or not seeing as how he quietly bowed out four years ago, but is somehow back in our promo shots! Clay has partied pretty hard, and probably will again, but more than anything he's dependable; and in an unstable business such as ours, that is sometimes the most important thing.

Shaun on Clayton:

I love it when I call Clay and mumble the rough outline of a melody over the phone to him and he can tell me what the song is called, who released it, when, and what coloured shirt the dude was wearing at the time.  I love Clayton Bolger.  He is the most genuine, loving, gentle and outrageously mad guy I've ever had the privilege of rocking with.

This may sound a trivial thing, but he seriously knows so many songs.  The lyrics just seem to get caught in his brain somehow, combined with his awesomely powerful voice and stamina that just won't quit, he's the ultimate singer/guitarist.  I miss him heaps when I haven't seen him for a while.

Courtney on Clayton:

Way back in the summer holidays when I had just recently turned 14, Chris decided we 'needed' this guy from our rival school 'ASHS' to join our band.  So as I recall, Clayton got the gig even without my say so... Chris saw his first jam with the band as an audition... Clayton's crazy beautiful cockiness saw it as the first rehearsal!  Thank you Chris for that prophetic decision... because my life hasn't been the same since.  Clayton Troy Bolger is such a beautiful soul, and such a hilarious, talented, brainy, easy-going guy.  It's scary how well Clay and I get along; he really is the 'other' Murphy brother.  On top of all this, he's one hell of a colaborator.  I think some of my best songs have come from sitting down with Bolger and a pen.  For those who are curious, check out 'Her Name' and 'Nothing at All' off our 'Universe Conspires' album.

Most of my best memories from the band include Clay, including way back when on our first trip with him to Kalgoorlie, him still being an awkward 18 year old... wsa rocking a little too hard and wrapped his guitar lead around him until his feet got stuck and he went arse up into the drums.  This was certainly a sign of things to come as over the years he has provided the funniest material to recall... Bolger, I love you brother.
